Picarel’s Breeding Grounds | Episode 5 What is the mysterious link between the extensive breeding nests of the Picarel fish, and the critically endangered Angelsharks? Follow Laurent Ballesta and the Gombessa Expeditions team in this expedition along the Cap Corse peninsula to explore the vast breeding grounds of the Picarel fish, that extend over hundreds of hectares on the seabed. Techniques such as photogrammetry or the lateral sonar have made it possible to measure the dimensions and quantify the surface covered by the breeding grounds of Picarels: 160 hectares of nests, 4 million nests, 3 nests per square meter.
