The Common Angelshark… A Not So Common Shark! | Episode 3 The Angelshark is ray-shaped shark that lives on the sandy sea-bottoms, or in the seagrass beds. It hunts by hiding in the sand and pounding on its prey, usually small fish or crustaceans, when it passes by. While in the past, the Angelsharks were very abundant in Europe, it is today classified as a critically endangered species. Supported by Blancpain, Laurent Ballesta and his Gombessa Expeditions aim not only to study this rare species and but to raise awareness among fishermen and local communities, to release Angelsharks captured during fishing and participate to the tagging process.
